The mistake is almost always the same: flights booked first, treatment plan second. Then the plan needs six days and the return flight is on day four.

Getting to İzmir
The airport is Adnan Menderes (ADB). Direct routes from the UK are operated by Jet2 from Manchester, London, Leeds, Nottingham and Newcastle. SunExpress, Pegasus and easyJet also serve it.

If there is no direct flight from your airport on your dates, connecting through Istanbul adds roughly three to four hours door to door. Worth checking both — a direct flight two days later is often better than a connection today, particularly on the way home with a fresh treatment.
Airport to the city
ADB is 18 km southwest of the centre, in Gaziemir. Three ways in:
- İZBAN train. Runs from inside the terminal. About 25–30 minutes to Alsancak. Cheapest, and immune to traffic.
- Taxi. Around 30 minutes to the centre outside peak hours. Use the official rank or a booked transfer.
- Clinic transfer. Many clinics arrange pickup. Confirm whether it is included or charged, and whether it covers the return.
How many days each treatment needs
This is the number that should drive your booking.

Add one buffer day to whatever the plan says. Not for sightseeing — for the appointment that needs repeating because a shade was not right, which is far better fixed here than at home.
Flying after treatment
Flying does not damage dental work. The considerations are practical:
- After implant surgery, leave one clear day before flying. Not because altitude is a problem, but so the site can be checked and any bleeding managed on the ground.
- After extractions, same — one clear day, and no straws or smoking, which risk dislodging the clot.
- After veneers or crowns are bonded, you can fly the same day.
- Sinus lift patients should ask specifically. The recommended interval is longer and depends on the procedure.
Entry requirements
- British citizens travel visa-free for tourism, up to 90 days in any 180-day period.
- Passport valid at least 150 days beyond your entry date, with a blank page.
- Nothing dental-specific is required at the border. You are entering as a visitor.
Where to stay
Anywhere central — Alsancak, Konak, Bornova, Bayraklı — puts you within a short ride of most clinics. Ask your clinic what is close to them rather than optimising for the airport; you will do the airport journey twice and the clinic journey six times.
What to bring
- Recent X-rays or a CBCT scan if you have them, even if the clinic will retake them. They show history.
- A list of medications, especially blood thinners and bone medications (bisphosphonates) — these change surgical planning.
- Your dentist's contact details at home, in case records need requesting.
- Soft food tolerance for the first days after surgery, and painkillers you know you get on with.
The one thing to settle before you pay for flights
A written schedule: which appointment on which day. Not "5–7 days" but the actual sequence. A clinic that has planned your case can produce that. One that cannot has not planned it yet, and you are about to book flights around a guess.
